Last Sunday we were delighted to host the launch of Threads of Home, the new poetry collection by local writer Mary Walsh, edited by Claire Steele and Jill Glenn from publishers By the Book Press. Over 50 guests gathered in the studios to celebrate Mary’s work, inspired by her Dagenham- Ireland childhood and heritage. Mary shared some of her poems, which were tender, evocative and humorous in turn. The Randells was full of great conversation, and connection. Mary is not only a gifted poet but also an active contributor to Pen to Print, the programme that has been fostering and supporting writers across Barking & Dagenham and further afield for over ten years.
The event was a wonderful reminder of how creativity thrives when communities come together. We’re proud to have been able to provide the space for this important milestone in Mary’s writing journey, and we look forward to seeing Threads of Home reach many more readers.
